The handles have been added to the vanity in the kid’s bath which means it is officially finished … Skye thought the new handles were to die for and has opened all the drawers and cabinets a bunch of times …
Now I just want to find some cute stuff to hang on the walls in there …
Well except for the handles on the vanity the kid’s bathroom is finished … and Skye is in love … she shows everyone her new bathroom …we have so much fun during bath time now because we aren’t crammed in there … and it is just a beautiful relaxing space … it couldn’t have come out any better and it is for sure everything I dreamed it would be …
Today they put the vanity in the kids bathroom and can I just say … WOW … I absolutely love how it turned out … I was a bit nervous … we went a bit opposite than what we had planned … and it came out great … now we have a wonderful tiled floor and lots of finishing touches and it will be ready for use … it just came out so great … I’ve always had white vanity with white sink top a mirror across the wall … and going with black for the vanity had me a little nervous but I am in love …
Well a bunch of what seems to be small stuff has gotten taken care of … and the completed tasks are actually make a big difference …
First off the laundry room … the floor is all tiled … the windows have been redone … vents put in and best of all the pedestal for the washer and dryer has been installed and shelves behind the door put in … all that is left is a coat of paint and bringing the machines upstairs … if it happens before I give birth I will be so happy … but no matter when it happens I am sure I will shed a tear …
Well they got all the tile laid in the laundry room and started the tile in the bathroom … and I am in LOVE … just absolutely love love love it … and the black tile David went and got for the step up that we had to add is perfect … looks so good and for sure lets you know there is a step up there … I am just totally in love …
So the guys got all the walls up in the bathroom except for where the shower head is because we need to buy a different fixture before they put the wall up there … next will be some spackleing which means after that we can paint and put in tile and cabinets and a toilet and woohoo have a bathroom … it is a very exciting prospect … and it feels huge even though each time they do something it feels a bit smaller …
Today they worked on the kids bathroom all day … and wow it is coming out great … I’m getting very excited about it … especially since at this point I wouldn’t even fit into the old bathroom anymore …
So today they got the rest of the drywall and cement board in place … they added the small wall next to the toilet so you have a bit of privacy if someone opens the door while you are in there … they framed out and drywalled the shelves in the corner … they added the recessed lighting … and drew out what the medicine cabinets are going to look like in front of the vanity … I’m just loving the room … it is going to be so exciting to see the vanity in place and all the black and white tile …
Like I have said many times before … it hardly feels like our house … it has been years that David and I have been talking about doing this stuff … and it really makes it easy to see us staying here for years and years … till kids are grown … it is just awesome …
Well the plumbing has gone in … it is now ready for the shower fixtures and the sinks and a toilet installed …
The tub apparently took 4 guys to get it upstairs … so happy I didn’t have to work on that project … but it looks great in place and the step up is really nice for the tub and sink area … the cement board floor is almost finished going in which means tile can start soon …
It is going to be a huge bathroom … it will be so very nice … I think there might even be a little room to put a nice seat so no more sitting on the floor for mommy when kids are taking a bath … what a luxury that will be …
So we encountered some complication yesterday with the kids bathroom … because of the house being a split level and the heating ducts for the bottom floor they could not run the pipes through the floor of the spare room to turn it into a bathroom …
The solution?
Make a step-up in the bathroom for the vanity and tub … that way the pipes could run between the original floor and the new floor … it is just a couple of inches up and I think it will look great …
And my mom and dad had a great idea of putting a border of black tile along the edge of the step up to make it stand out since with black and white tile it could be a bit camouflaged … it is going to look absolutely spectacular …
I did get a giggle out of the laundry room … just the day before it was totally cleaned out and looked almost ready to put the washer in … but then it was a complete mess by the time I got home from work …
I still can’t believe this stuff is happening in our house … I remember when we looked at this house and had all these lofty ideas of what we would do if we bought it … I just thought most of them wouldn’t happen for at least 10 or more years …
So today they worked on getting more of the laundry room and bathroom done … in anticipation of the plumbers coming next week … they put in the drain and new floor in the laundry room as well as cut the door opening another 3.5 inches to the right and built it up on the left (the washer was going to cover a bit of the door opening making a bi-fold door necessary which we didn’t want to do) and they move the light switch for the laundry room out into the hall … so that room is rockin’ now …
The bathroom they started framing out the wall that will house the pipes for the shower … we are also building out from the wall and at the back of the tub … that way it give extra room in the tub without having to buy a bigger tub … with a couple of feet around it makes it roomier … plus we are putting a curved shower curtain rod on … so that should be rockin’ too …
It is getting there … bit by bit … and since I am really wanting to nest … clean up the house … and really make it a better place they couldn’t be finished soon enough 🙂
